The TI-OS timer APIs (such as _os_SetTimer1) make certain assumptions about the timer configuration, specifically that the counting direction is set to the default of count-down. Some TI apps, such as the Python app, use these APIs and will hang indefinitely if the timer is set to count-up.

If writing a program that sets a timer's direction to count-up, the direction should either be explicitly set to count-down or restored to its original value before exiting back to TI-OS.
